love yourself

The greatest advice that anyone gave me was probably this: "Love yourself."

“I’m still learning to love the parts of myself that no one claps for."
— Rudy Francisco

You hide your flaws. You try to cover them up. You pray no one notices. You hope no one asks about them. You want nothing more than to undo all your flaws, to remove them for good. It's sad how some people think of flaws as ugly. Because I think that everything about you makes you beautiful. Maybe beautiful isn't the right word to use here. But everything about you, your flaws, your thoughts- they make you special and intriguing. They make you that little bit different from everyone else.

You may hate the person once were. For the stupid decisions you've made, for the mistakes you've made and for every thing that haunts you till today. But always remember, you can’t truly love yourself until you love everything you once were. You need to forgive yourself for the past, and realize that without it, you wouldn't be here.

You’ve gotta learn to love yourself. Learn to take all the good and bad, and love each and every bit of yourself. Love yourself for doing the things you’ve done, no matter how great or horrible they are. Whatever you've done, the decisions you've made, they make you, Y O U. The mistakes you've made, the chances you've missed, the opportunities you let slip out your hands. They came a long way, they're a part of the journey that made you who you are. You just have to learn to love yourself for everything because in the end you’re really all you've got.

“You don’t have to love yourself in order for other people to love you. You don’t have to love yourself to be in a relationship where the other person loves you. But there will come a time when you will be alone and you will be sad and you will be hating everything about yourself and you cannot blame that on them. You feel alone, and they can’t always know when you feel like that. It is not their job to love you. So, yes you can be in a relationship and not love yourself but you’re not with that person every minute. No matter how much time you spend with them, you aren’t. You’re with yourself every minute of every day. Don’t spend those minutes hating yourself. Make them count.”

“Your light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine. If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be astonished. If you knew how many people feel so much for you, you would be shocked. You are far more wonderful than you think you are. Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. More than fine. Better than fine. You’re doing great. So relax. & love yourself today.”
