Cakes, cake and more cakes!

Cafe-hopping has been on my to-do list since forever. But I never really found anyone that was willing to go around spending money and was fond of the thought of gaining extra weight. So when I finally found Asyiqin, boy was I jumping for joy!! After almost 3 nights of "research" on Halal cafes that weren't going to cost us a bomb, we set a date and we were ready to pack on some extra weight.

Before jumping in to our experiences and journey, I would like to give The Alternative Food Blog a HUGEEEEEEE thanks. If I had never chanced upon that blog, I wouldn't have found many of the cafes that we went to.

So a little about the blog-
Being a Muslim (Shereen) and a vegetarian (Kit) in Singapore, we’ve come to realise that we have to take extra time and caution when we head out to dine. We often do extensive research on the place that we’re going to and when we do head there, we always ask extra questions to double check and make sure our dietary requirements are met. The idea for this bog stemmed from wanting to provide readers with
a) more halal options so that they can feel safe eating at said establishments
b) alternative options for vegetarians when dining at non-vegetarian places
So there you have it!  A great blog to check out if you're into trying out new food, new cafes and really amazing cakes.

Starting off, we went to the I AM cafe just off Haji lane.

This little cafe is located at
674 North Bridge Road, off Haji Lane
Singapore 188804

and they're open all week!
Mon – Thu: 11:00 am – 11:00 pm
Fri – Sat: 11:00 am – 1:00 am
Sun: 11:00 am – 10:00 pm

Getting there is really easy, unless you're as blur as we were........
Just take the train to Bugis MRT station and it's within walking distance (approx 15 minutes walk)!
(Just turn on your GPS like we did hehehhe)

Even with the GPS telling us where to go, we were still lost. Such an amazing way to start off the day huh. It was just round the corner but being the really blur us, we walked an entire round before realizing that we were walking further from where the cafe was!

After we settled down, we decided to order our food. We had such a tough time trying to figure out what to order. Thankfully (or not, I'm still deciding) the lady was very nice and she told us the specials that the cafe has. She was also VERY convincing in asking us to try all their specialties because that's what you do when cafe-hopping right? TRY THE CAFE SPECIALS.

For drinks, we ordered a Honeymooney (SGD$6.90). It really reminded me of Honeymoon Ave. It was a really refreshing drink that wasn't too sweet or overpowering that destroyed the taste of the food you ate. I really loved the combination of the tropical fruits in it, yum!!

Next, we ordered a simple Margheritta pizza (SGD$10.90). I absolutely loved it and it was definitely big enough for the both of us.

They were very generous with the cheese and the tomatoes were so juicy. I had to convince Asyiqin to try the tomatoes together with the pizza because she didn't like tomatoes at all.

Although the rainbow cake (SGD$8.90) cost a bomb, it was definitely worth it! It was super fluffy and super light and the serving was huge. Even with the two of us, it took us quite awhile to finish the cake.  They also had the rainbow crepes and the red velvet cake which I didn't get to try because I was too full. I would definitely make my way there again for another round of their famous cakes.

After we were done with our adventure at I AM, we walked through the alley next to the cafe and we were surprised to see the walls were so gorgeously painted.

After walking through the many shops in the lane, something caught our eye!

TUTTI FRUTTI

I originally thought it was a brand gone for good since the outlet in Clementi has closed and I heard of rumours that this outlet was closed too. It was such a joy finding this outlet because the both of us LOVE frozen yogurt. If we could live off it, maybe we would.

I absolutely loved my frozen yogurt and the little outlet had such  a cozy feel to it. I've always liked Tutti Frutti outlets due to their really quiet environment. After walking to digest what we have eaten, we chanced on this other cafe which was on our list-

La Marelle Cafe & Boutique

You can find this lovely little cafe along 25A Baghdad Street (Singapore 199664).
They're also opened daily!
Mon: 10:45 am – 10:00 pm
Wed – Thu: 10:45 am – 10:00 pm
Fri – Sat: 10:45 am – 2:00 am
Sun: 10:45 am – 10:00 pm

Similarly to I AM, it is within walking distance from Bugis MRT.
All you have to do is turn on your GPS heheh, but really though. Take a cut across raffles hospital and walk through Haji Lane across Arab Street.

The entrance to the cafe was really small and it was painted hot pink, which is really hard to miss. They had super adorable wall decors and it was definitely really cute.

Just take a look at the surrounding and the super unique decorations. The cafe is also a boutique which sells really pretty accessories and bags. Everything there is probably one of a kind and if you're looking for really unique bags or accessories you should really take a trip down to La Marelle.

Since the both of us were really full from our previous two food adventures, we decided to just get drinks. When I was looking through the menu, the only thing that caught my eye was the names of the drinks!
I had no idea what to order but the drink Berry Kisses (SGD$8.90) caught my eye. Although $8.90 seems really expensive for this, I though that it was not that bad considering the atmosphere.
It was also a really addictive drink and I couldn't stop drinking it hahaha

Asyiqin's drink was Chloe ($SGD7.90), yes it was named after a girl. It was a pineapple/lychee drink. I didn't try it but it looked really delicious. It was something like a tropical drink with the tropical fruits in it.

We spent a good hour and a half at La Marelle just talking and catching up. It was really nice finally getting to catch up with her since we've been in different polys. All in all, it was a really amazing day out and about with my girl.
I really have nothing else to add on about how great the company and day was, ahhhh. So.....

Till next time!
