#slqinHK: Hong Kong Day 1

Hong Kong Bound!
#slqinHK

I haven't had time to blog properly in a long while. Thought it'll be nice to document my travels to Hong Kong here like I've done before for #slqinTaiwan & my Korea trip. This time around, I've headed to Hong Kong for a 5D4N trip with my family (grandparents & my Dad's sister's family too), so we're traveling in a pretty 'big' group of 10 of us.

Hong Kong Day One

Our flight was to depart at 0850, which I felt was an alright timing. It wasn't too early nor was it too late. We left home around 6AM and had to call for a 6-seater GrabCar which was $44SGD (west of SG to Changi Airport). A regular GrabCar was only $26 but we had no choice, considering we had 3 big luggages and 3 cabin sized ones. Yes, we had that many for a family of 4.

After we checked in and dropped off our luggage, we headed to the food court for breakfast. Breakfast was the usuals: Kaya toast and iced milo. I was tasked to order for my Grandma (Teh Si Kosong) but I obviously screwed up the order and got Teh Si Siu Dai instead yikes my pea brain!!

Then it was time to head to the gate for boarding! Everything was pretty smooth sailing and relatively easy to navigate. Once on board the plane, I gathered my things and got ready to sleep. I hate plane rides, they are nauseating no matter how wonderful the pilots are. Oh! To add to the fun, there was quite a fair bit of turbulence during the flight. But all's well! We landed safely without harm.

Oh ya! After we landed it was quite a mess gathering everything, but we managed to grab some light snacks from here ^ before boarding the bus.

Thankfully we chartered a bus for a flat rate to get us from the airport to our hotel. (We thought it would be a small bus, but no, it's a 40 seater for JUST 10 OF US?!?) We were stuck in a jam for nearly an hour and a half. There was a jam, a really bad one - an accident between a bus and 2 cars. Hopefully, no one was seriously injured.

After reaching the hotel (Royal Plaza), we noticed it was completely packed. Everyone was just waiting to check-in. Again, we waited for another hour before getting the keys to our rooms. All the waiting was so draining. By the time we got back to the hotel, we just really wanted to crash and rest BUT we were starving. Soooo, off we went! We went downstairs and ate Crystal Jade (IKR, coming all the way here for that.........) But we really couldn't take it and didn't want to walk all over just looking for food.

OH YES, IF I HAVE YET TO MENTION: A SUPER TYPHOON IS ABOUT TO HIT. Hong Kong is just bracing themselves for the storm and the impact of the super typhoon coming soon. As we were walking the streets, everyone was busy packing and basically closing their shops at 8PM. It was rather disappointing since we had nothing much to see or buy. Since we were tired from the day, we decided to head back to the hotel earlier to rest.

The storm is expected to arrive in a few hours. Hopefully, things are well.

Hong Kong Day Two

Day Two is non-existent because of the Typhoon. We were not allowed to leave the hotel and it was basically a dead town. No one left the comfort and safety that the indoors provided. We spent our time in the hotel, doing nothing. Sleeping, eating, napping again, working on my assignment. Yknow, the usuals.

*Photos aren't loading now, sigh. Oh wells.

Till next time,
Love,
